JLR Vehicle Production Starts In India : Today, February 9, is a very special day for the Indian automobile industry, because the world’s most famous SUV company Jaguar Land Rover has started manufacturing in India and all the credit for this goes to Tata Motors. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) has started its new manufacturing plant at Panapakkam in Ranipet district of Tamil Nadu. This plant will also manufacture all next generation vehicles including electric vehicles in collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).

First phase of greenfield plant and Range Rover Evoque rollout

This plant of Tata Motors and JLR will run completely on renewable energy and will be water positive from environmental point of view. It was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu CM Thiru MK Stalin and Tata Sons and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Chairman N. Chandrasekaran did it. The first vehicle to roll out of this plant is Jaguar Land Rover’s Range Rover Evoque. The plant is the first phase of a greenfield plant for Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Jaguar Land Rover.

Target of production of 2.5 lakh cars every year

Let us tell you that Tata Motors and JLR’s Panapakkam manufacturing plant located in Ranipet district of Tamil Nadu will gradually increase production and will reach its full capacity in the next 5-7 years. Here the target of production of 250,000 vehicles has been set annually. The various Jaguar Land Rover vehicles manufactured here will meet the needs of the Indian and international markets. TMPV will invest approximately Rs 9,000 crore to make this plant state-of-the-art. This will create more than 5000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
