Bulabayo: The defending champion Australia team is out of the Under-19 World Cup 2026. In the semi-final match, Australia lost by 27 runs against England Under-19 team. Batting first, England scored 277 runs for 7 wickets. In reply, Australia captain Oliver Peak fought till the end but the team’s innings was reduced to 250 runs. England has secured a place in the final of the tournament for the third time. It had won the title in 1998 whereas in 2022 it had to face defeat in the final against India. In the final, England will face the winner of the second semi-final between India and Afghanistan.

Peak scored a century despite struggling with hamstring

Captain Oliver Peak was out as the last wicket for Australia. Due to hamstring problem, he was not able to even walk properly in the end. But even then Peak continued the fight. In the last 6 overs, Australia needed 65 runs to win and 8 wickets had fallen. Peak was playing after scoring 68 runs on 73 balls. He hit two fours in the 45th over. In the 46th over, Peak hit a six on the first ball and then four consecutive fours. During this time, Peak was seen in a lot of pain. Charles Lachmund was out on the first ball of the 47th over. In this over, Peak completed his century in 85 balls. He was not able to even run a single and was out in the 48th over. With his wicket the England team reached the final.

Australia got a good start by opener Nitish Samuel by scoring 47 runs but he faced 83 balls. Steven Hogan, who came at number three, scored 3 runs in 23 balls.
