ITEP Seats Increased 2026 : There has been a 3-fold increase in seats for the four-year teacher education program. There were 6100 seats in the Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP) course in 2025, which has now increased to 16,950. At the same time, the number of colleges has also increased and this time top colleges of Delhi University (DU) have also been added in which candidates will get a chance for admission. National Testing Agency (NTA) has released its schedule and online applications can be made till March 10.

List of 223 colleges finalized so far

In 2025, the four-year Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP) was in 77 colleges, but in 2026, the list of 223 colleges has been finalized so far. Some more institutions will also be added to this list. The special thing is that DU top college Have also agreed to start this course. This course will be run in four IITs, NITs, Central Universities, State Universities and State Government Colleges of the country.

Chairman of National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) Prof. Pankaj Arora says that the demand for 4-year teacher education program has increased across the country and a large number of applications were received to run this course in 2026. Now a four-year teaching course is being run under the National Education Policy 2020 and now this course will also start in more institutions. The curriculum of the course has also been prepared keeping in mind the international standards. There are four years B.Ed/B.Sc-B.Ed and B.Com-B.Ed courses.

Admission in these universities and IIT-NIT

IGNOU, Dr. B. R. This course is also taught in Ambedkar University Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia. IP University of Dwarka is also associated with this test. If we look at many central universities, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Rajasthan are included. Admission in Aligarh Muslim University will also be done on the basis of this test. Many NITs including IIT Kharagpur, IIT Ropar, IIT Jodhpur are included.

Online applications can be made on National Testing Agency’s website nta.ac.in and exams.nta.nic.in/ncet till March 10. Fees can be deposited till March 11. The date of entrance test has been fixed for 17th April. The application fee for general category is Rs 1200. The fee for OBC-NCL-EWS is Rs 1000 and the application fee for SC, ST, Divyang category students is Rs 650. The exam will be held in 13 languages. There will be a three hour paper. 4 marks will be deducted for correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for wrong answer.

How did the institutions grow?

In 2023, this course was in 42 institutions. It has been agreed to start this course in 64 institutions in 2024, 77 in 2025 and so far in 223 institutions in 2026. This number will increase further. The 4-year B.Sc.-B.Ed course is taught in 4 IITs of the country, which include IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Ropar and IIT Jodhpur. Apart from this, there is BA-B.Ed course in NIT Tamil Nadu and B.Sc-B.Ed course in five NITs.
