Uttar PradeshNews:
Jagran correspondent, Gorakhpur. On the instructions of the Election Commission, the ‘Logical Description’ process has now been started under the Special Intensive Revision of Voter List-SIR campaign. Its purpose is to identify and correct those technical and irrational errors recorded in the voter list which appear unlikely or suspicious on the basis of normal data patterns.
For example, if a father’s age is recorded as 15 years in the voter list, that clearly shows a data entry error. Similarly, unusual entries like adding six or more voters as children of the same person are also under scrutiny. The objective of the Commission is to make the voter list more accurate and reliable by removing these discrepancies.
So far, names of about six lakh voters in the district have been identified under this process. Notices are being sent to the voters concerned, however, they will not be required to attend any personal hearing. They will provide necessary certificates related to their age, family relationship or other details to the concerned BLO (Booth Level Officer). BLO will make necessary amendments in the list after verification of documents.
