What is gate exam?
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national level examination in the country. The level of the exam is for undergraduates in fields like engineering, technology, science, commerce, arts, architecture and humanities etc. GATE6 is jointly organized by the National Coordination Board (NCB), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India on behalf of IISc and all the IITs. The main institute organizing GATE 2026 is IIT Guwahati.

MTech in IIT-NIT for candidates who qualify GATE admission The options are not limited to PhD only but it is given priority in many government jobs and PSU jobs. After GATE, students can take admission in Master and PhD programs in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts and humanities in institutions supported by the Ministry of Education and other government institutions. Apart from this, you can apply for research roles in DRDO, ISRO and BARC etc.

When is GATE Exam 2026?
gate exam 2026 It is being organized from 7 February 2026. This year it is being organized by IIT Guwahati. This examination will be held in computer mode across the country on 7, 8, 14 and 15 February 2026. There will be different papers for different subjects. The examination will be held in 2 shifts. The first shift will be from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the second shift will be from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
