Maulvi Khalilu Rehman, who converted Hindu girls and married them, was arrested by Dehat Kotwali police on Wednesday.

The accused used to inspire Hindu women and children to convert on the pretext of exorcising witchcraft so that they change their religion. His connections have also been found with other accused arrested in this case. The police have registered a case against Khalilu Rehman and sent him to jail. Maulvi Khalilu Rehman is a resident of Pokhri locality of Bhatwan and is a Maulvi by profession. He used to teach in Hussaini Mosque located in Chilh of the district. Apart from this, he was also a Maulvi in ​​the mosque located at Pokhri in Bhatwan, but he had moved away from there for one and a half years. Khalilu Rehman used to do the work of exorcising witchcraft, due to which along with Muslim women, many Hindu women, girls and children also came to him for exorcising witchcraft. The Maulvi used to inspire them to convert, so that they change their religion.

In this year 2023, Khalilu Rehman had converted a Hindu girl from Lohta police station area of ​​Varanasi district and got her married to a Muslim youth. When the girl’s family came to know about this, they filed a case against the Maulvi at Lohta police station. According to the police, this Maulvi has also been linked to the gym trainer case.

The police started a thorough investigation in this case and collected concrete evidence against the Maulvi. This act of Khalilu Rehman was not only hurtful to religious sensitivities, but it could also cause disharmony in the society. The police took immediate action in this case and arrested the Maulvi and took legal action against him. This incident has once again brought the issue of religious conversion into discussion in the district.
