Jagran correspondent, Farrukhabad. On National Deworming Day, the health of 150 children of a school deteriorated after consuming Albendazole, a medicine to destroy stomach worms. There was chaos in the school after children complained of vomiting, dizziness and stomach ache. 33 children were brought to Kamalganj Community Health Center and 68 children were brought to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in 10 ambulances. Other children went home from school.
Most of the children recovered after an hour of treatment. Only seven children are admitted to the hospital. The District Magistrate, Chief Medical Officer and Additional Superintendent of Police saw the condition of the children in the hospital. The Chief Medical Officer said that he himself had started the campaign by taking the medicine. It is normal to feel dizzy after taking medicine. Therefore there is no need to panic.
On Tuesday, on National Deworming Day, a campaign was conducted across the district to feed Albendazole tablets to children to destroy stomach worms. In this, children above two years of age were given one pill each and children below one year of age were given half a pill. At Jawaharlal Prema Devi Junior High School located in Rathora Mohaddinpur village of Jahanganj, at 12:30 pm, manager Phool Singh fed medicine to 150 children from the packet of batch number 040625BUP35.
Its expiry date was May 2028. After consuming the medicine, most of the children started complaining of vomiting, dizziness and stomach pain. When some children expressed serious problems, the school manager informed the health and education department. After that, 33 children were brought to Kamalganj Community Health Center and 68 children were brought to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in 10 ambulances of 102 and 108.
Additional Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh, Mohammadabad Area Officer Ajay Verma reached Kamalganj Hospital and took information from the children. District Magistrate Ashutosh Kumar Dwivedi said that some children started feeling dizzy after consuming the medicine. Some children were even scared. The condition of the children is normal after treatment.
