Jagran correspondent, Bareilly. Changes in the challan process for vehicles violating traffic rules had already been approved, now a detailed guideline has been issued by the Transport Department. In case of repeated challan, the driver will be disqualified for three months. It has been made mandatory to submit the challan within 45 days.
Objections can also be lodged in the RTO office during this period. If you are dissatisfied even after the decision of RTO, you will be able to go to court only after depositing 50 percent of the challan. Divisional Transport Officer Administration Pankaj Singh said that by amending the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989, the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 2026 have been made effective.
According to the new rule, for violation of traffic rules, challan can be issued in both physical or e-form. Challan can also be made through automated electronic monitoring system. The physical challan will be sent to the vehicle owner in 15 days and the e-challan will be sent to the vehicle owner in three days.
If a vehicle is challaned five times in a year, the driver’s driving license will be suspended for three months and the driver will be disqualified. Once the challan is made, you will get 45 days to deposit it. If there is any objection, you will have to apply to the Divisional Transport Officer within this period, if you do not apply then no relief will be given after the period is over.
After receiving the application, the RTO will have to dispose of it within 30 days. If the complaint is not disposed of within the stipulated period, the challan will be automatically canceled. In case of objection to the disposal of RTO, you will be able to file a petition in the court by depositing 50 percent of the challan amount.
He said that if the challan is outstanding, the concerned vehicle will be detained and no work related to the concerned vehicle will be done until the challan is deposited. Instructions have been issued to all ARTOs for strict implementation.
