Aaron George’s century won the match
Even though Team India was chasing a big score like 311 runs in the semi-final against Afghanistan. But despite this, the team never appeared under pressure from the very first over. First of all, Vaibhav Suryavanshi played an excellent inning of 68 runs in 33 balls. After this, captain Ayush Mhatre (62) provided excellent support to Aaron George. There was a partnership of more than 100 between the two players. Before Team India’s victory, George completed his century in just 95 balls. George was out after scoring 115 runs. In the end, Vihaan Malhotra scored 38 runs and Vedant Trivedi ended the match with 5 runs.
Afghanistan’s batsmen showed their strength
Earlier, Afghanistan gave a tremendous performance against the Indian bowlers and scored a huge score of 310 runs after losing 4 wickets in 50 overs. The foundation of this historic innings of Afghanistan was laid by the opening batsmen, but later on the basis of excellent batting of Faisal Shinozada and Uzairullah Niazai, the team reached such a big score. Faisal Shinozada displayed wisdom and aggression and scored a century of 110 runs, which put the Indian camp on the back foot.
Niazai also played a brilliant innings
In the last overs of the innings, Uzairullah Niazai neutralized the Indian attack by hitting big shots all around the ground and scored an unbeaten 101 runs in just 86 balls. Thanks to the strong partnership of 148 runs between these two batsmen, Afghanistan was successful in reaching its highest score in the history of Under-19 World Cup semi-finals. For India, Deepesh Devendran and Kanishk Chauhan took 2-2 wickets.
Team India in 10th final
India has won the Under-19 World Cup five times: in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018 and 2022. They have also been runners-up four times, most recently when they lost to defending champions Australia in 2024.
