Gujarat Pulse Polio Campaign, Gandhinagar: The state government has taken an important step to strengthen the ‘Baal Paralysis Campaign’ in Gujarat. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has symbolically launched the statewide Pulse Polio campaign by administering drops of polio vaccine to young children in Gandhinagar, through which the state government wants to ensure that no child falls prey to this serious disease.

Target to protect 83.49 lakh children

The main objective of this campaign is to cover more than 83.49 lakh children under polio vaccine in the state up to five years. The campaign has been launched by observing today, June 28, Sunday as “Polio Sunday”. In addition, health workers will conduct door-to-door administration on June 29 and 30 for those children who missed vaccination at the booth on Sunday.

More than 65 thousand health workers-32 thousand booths

Massive preparations have been made by the health department to meet this massive vaccination drive. A total of 32,997 polio booths have been set up across the state. A total of 65,994 health teams will engage in this door-to-door and booth-based drip feeding operation under the intensive guidance of 6,599 supervisors of the health department.

Dignitaries including the Minister of Health were present

State Health Minister Praful Panseria was also present along with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in this program organized in Gandhinagar. Along with this, Gandhinagar mayor Meera Patel, MLA Ritaben Patel and city BJP president also participated. Additional Chief Secretary Health Rajeev Topno and Health Commissioner along with health officials and a large number of parents of children were present on behalf of the administration.
