Jivadori Samana Shetrunji Dam of Bhavnagar district is 100% full today. 20 gates of the dam have been opened 0.3 m. As a result, 17 low-lying villages have been alerted.
Shetrunji Dam overflow: Happy news has come for the farmers of Bhavnagar district and Saurashtra. Due to heavy rains in the upper reaches of Amreli and Bhavnagar districts and in the areas of Palitana and Talaja talukas, the Shetrunji Dam has received a lot of water for the past few days. As a result, on 6 July 2026 at 5:45 PM, Shetrunji Dam is 100% full as per its prescribed level. As a result 20 gates of the dam have been opened by 0.3 m.
Alerts and cautions by the system
As the dam fills to capacity, the gates of the dam may open at any time, prompting the system to issue an alert as a precaution. Residents of low-lying villages in the Shetrunji river bed have been advised not to move in the river bed and stay safe.

A sense of joy among the farmers
Shetrunji Dam is the lifeblood of Bhavnagar district. As this dam is 100% filled, the farmers of Palitana and Talaja Panthak are feeling great joy. Farmers are hopeful that the dam overflow will ease the water problem for irrigation in the near future and will provide enough water for the rabi crop.
System appeal
The administration has appealed to the citizens not to go to the dam site and the river bed. Special instructions have been issued to the people living along the river banks to be alert and move their livestock to a safer place when the water is released from the dam. At present, the situation is being continuously monitored by the system.
