A letter of consent was signed to play against India at a neutral venue.
According to the report, Pakistan is accused of breaking the contract which it itself has signed. Talking to Times of India, a source keeping an eye on this entire matter said, ‘In the contract that PCB has signed with ICC and India, it is clear that it and India will have to participate in ICC events and play among themselves. However, this match will be held at a neutral venue. There is no clause related to any kind of force majeure in this agreement.
In which cases does force majeure apply?
Generally, the exemption related to force majeure i.e. unexpected event is applicable in those cases which have happened suddenly and are unavoidable. These include natural disasters, acts of God or extreme political circumstances that make it impossible for teams to play in matches. However, ICC sources claim that this clause cannot be applicable in this case, as it only involves political objection.
Pakistan will have to ban competition with India in all sports
The ICC source has also raised the question that the Pakistan government has boycotted only the match against India. Will this new policy apply to all sports? There is a need to clarify that the Government of Pakistan has ruled out any kind of sporting activity with India? Let us tell you that if the Pakistan government makes such an announcement in other sports also, then under the rules of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), it will be considered political interference and it will be banned.
