New Rules July 2026: As the hours of farewell to the month of June are counting down and the new month of July is going to start two days later i.e. from next Wednesday, many important rules are going to be changed from July 1. Which will have a direct impact on bank customers, credit card holders, tax payers, passport applicants and Aadhaar card holders.

Deadline for Filing of Income Tax Return

Taxpayers have till July 31 to file their returns for the financial year 2025-26. If this time limit is missed, a penalty may be imposed. Hence taxpayers should keep the time limit in mind.

Free Aadhaar e-mail update till December

From July 1, UIDAI will waive the fee of Rs 75 to be paid for updating e-mail address registered with Aadhaar card. This facility will be available free of charge for the next 6 months i.e. till 31st December.

An official notification said that it has been decided to waive the charge of Rs 75 for e-mail address updating service through Aadhaar mobile application. Hence this service will be available free of cost from July 1.

Changes to credit card rewards point structure

State Bank of India (SBI) is going to change its reward points program for select PhonePe SBI credit cards from July 1. This will affect Phone Pay SBI Credit Card Purple and Phone Pay Credit Card Select Black holders. This will include a new limit for earning reward points and a list of transactions that will not earn reward points.

Additional fees will be charged for passports

The Ministry of External Affairs has increased the fee for passports, which will be effective from July 1. Under which the application fee for a new passport with 36 pages has been increased from 1500 rupees to 2500 rupees. In this category, the Tatkal passport fee will also be increased from Rs 3500 to Rs 5 thousand.

If you are caught without a ticket in the train, you will have to pay a double penalty

Indian Railways has made its penalty rules more stringent from July 1. Till now, a fine of at least 250 rupees had to be paid for being caught traveling without a ticket in trains, the amount of which has been doubled to 500 rupees from July 1.

Also, if a male passenger is caught traveling in a ladies coach, he can be charged a hefty fine of up to Rs 2500. This rule has been tightened keeping in mind the safety of women.
