With the arrival of monsoon in Gujarat, Meghraja has made a grand entry in many areas. Umargam in Valsad recorded the highest rainfall of 110 mm (over 4 inches) in the last 24 hours, while other districts including Dang and Rajkot also received good rainfall.
Gujarat Rain Report June 24: Monsoon has arrived in Gujarat. At that time, Meghraja has made a grand entry in many areas of the state. As per last 24 hours statistics released by State Emergency Operation Centre, Gandhinagar, various districts of the state have received significant rainfall. Especially in some areas of South Gujarat and Saurashtra, there have been heavy rain showers.
Highest 110 mm rainfall in Umargam of Valsad
Umargam in Valsad district has been Megharaja’s hot favorite in the last 24 hours. A total of 110 mm i.e. more than 4 inches of rain has been recorded here. Importantly, most of the rainfall in Umargam fell during the late night to 06:00 am period, leading to inundation of low-lying areas. Apart from this, 37 mm of rain has been recorded in Valsad itself and 36 mm in Vapi.
Meghmeher also in Dang and Rajkot
Even in Dang district, the Meghraja has set his heart on purpose. A total of 78 mm (about 3 inches) of rain was recorded in Dang taluka, with 52 mm falling in just two hours from 16:00 to 18:00. On the other hand, Gondal in Rajkot district in Saurashtra also recorded 54 mm (over 2 inches) of rain, where 46 mm of rain fell between 18:00 and 20:00 in the evening. Kotda Sangani of Rajkot has received 20 mm of rain.
Situation in other areas of South Gujarat
Ukai in Tapi district received 28 mm and Songarh 3 mm. Narmada’s Sagabara has received 19 mm of rain. Panchmahal’s Jambughoda and Chotaudepur’s Kavant have similarly recorded 13 mm of rain each. Areas like Mandvi, Mangrol, Areth and Umarpada in Surat district received light rainfall ranging from 5 mm to 8 mm.
Light gusts in Saurashtra and other districts
Ranpur of Botad district received 8 mm of rain and Botad taluka received 2 mm of rain. Chikhli, Gandevi, Navsari and Jalalpore in Navsari district received 2 mm to 6 mm rainfall. Savarkundla in Amreli district received 5 mm of rain and Jafarabad 1 mm.
A total of 29 talukas of the state have witnessed rainy weather, due to which the farmers are seeing a wave of happiness and the atmosphere has cooled. The entire situation is being continuously monitored by the State Emergency Operation Center.
