With this, the number of children who lost their lives due to consumption of cough syrup has increased to 25. The latest case is from Tikabarri village of Betul district. Harsh, son of Gokul Yaduvanshi, who lives here, was shown to Dr. SS Thakur at Parasia in Chhindwara district on 1 October 2025 on the complaint of cold and cough. Harsh was given Coldriff cough syrup from the doctor’s clinic.
The child’s health started deteriorating as soon as he consumed the syrup. When his condition became critical, his relatives took him to a private hospital in Nagpur. During this period, cases of death of many children were reported in Chhindwara and Betul districts, after which the administration came into action.
