Big news for motorists of Ahmedabad. Once the insurance, PUC or fitness certificate expires, the vehicle will be blacklisted online within 45 days. Learn what to do to survive.
Ahmedabad Traffic Rules: Now there is a big news for lakhs of motorists living in the city. If you don’t keep your vehicle documents updated on time, you may be in big trouble in the coming days. A new digital system is now being implemented by the Traffic Department and RTO. Under this new system, if your vehicle’s insurance, PUC or fitness certificate expires, it will be directly reflected on the online record.
The vehicle will be directly blacklisted!
As per the new rules, all vehicle information will be directly linked to the ‘Vehicle Portal’. As soon as someone misses the renewal of the document again, the system will start working automatically. If these papers are not updated on time, the status of the vehicle on the portal will change and the vehicle will be directly placed in the ‘de-active’ or ‘blacklist’ category.
45 days to correct the error
However, the system will give vehicle owners a chance to correct their mistake before taking direct action. Motorists will get a total of 45 days to update the documents online. A digital notice (message) will be sent to the registered mobile number every 15 days during this period. Thus, a total of three warnings will be given.

If not, there will be penal action
If the driver does not update his documents even after receiving three notices, the system will send the vehicle details directly to the traffic police and RTO. Thereafter, whenever there is a road check and violation of the rules is found, heavy fines will be levied.
The main objective behind this new change is to increase road safety and ensure that motorists are not deprived of insurance benefits in the event of an accident. The best way for Ahmedabad motorists now is to check their vehicle insurance and PUC dates regularly.
