Gujarat Rainfall Report: Monsoon has set in the state, Meghraja is batting with a bang in South Gujarat and Saurashtra. In the last 24 hours, 225 talukas of the state have received significant rainfall. Especially in Valsad, Surat and Bhavnagar districts, many low-lying areas have been submerged due to heavy rains.’

Rain in Gujarat state in last 24 hours

During the last 24 hours from 6:00 am on July 6 to 6:00 am on 7 July The state of Gujarat recorded an average rainfall of 28.90 mm, with the South Gujarat zone receiving the highest rainfall of 64.04 mm. A total of 225 talukas of 34 districts of the state received rain, with Vapi taluka of Valsad district receiving the highest rainfall of 218 mm.

Water bombing in Valsad and Surat districts

According to the 24-hour statistics released by the State Emergency Operations Centre, Vapi taluka of Valsad district received the highest rainfall of 218 mm (8.58 inches) in the state. Apart from Vapi, other talukas of Valsad such as Pardi received 161 mm (6.34 inches), Umargam 159 mm (6.26 inches), Nanapondha 150 mm (5.91 inches) and Kaprada 147 mm (5.79 inches).

Even in Surat district, Meghraja has shown a raudra form. Kamrej in Surat recorded 164 mm (6.46 in) and Surat city recorded 137 mm (5.39 in). Urban life has been affected due to heavy rains.

Heavy rain in Bhavnagar and Amreli

Along with South Gujarat, Bhavnagar and Amreli districts of Saurashtra have also received widespread rain. Bhavnagar’s Ghogha taluk received 156 mm (6.14 in) of heavy rainfall. Apart from this, 114 mm (4.49 inches) of rain has been recorded in Bhavnagar city and 113 mm (4.45 inches) in Sihore.

As for Amreli district, Lathi received 117 mm (4.61 inches), Babara received 111 mm (4.37 inches) and Amreli town received 108 mm (4.25 inches). Khergam in Navsari also received 124 mm (4.88 inches) of rain and Radhanpur in Patan received 107 mm (4.21 inches) of rain.

Rainfall conditions in other parts of the state

Sinor in Vadodara recorded 99 mm (3.90 in) and Dabhoi 90 mm (3.54 in). While Khanpur in Mahisagar has received 98 mm (3.86 inches) of rain. In the state, Valsad, Surat, Bhavnagar, and Navsari districts were the main centers of Meghraja in the last 24 hours.

According to the Meteorological Department, very heavy rain is likely in Bhavnagar, Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Dang districts today, July 7, Tuesday. Amreli, Bharuch, Narmada districts may experience heavy to very heavy rains while Gir Somnath, Vadodara, Panchmahal, Dahod, Chotaudepur districts may experience heavy rain.

Apart from this, scattered light to moderate rain is likely over Junagadh, Porbandar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Rajkot, Botad, Surendranagar, Morbi, Kutch, Vav-Tharad, Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Kheda, Anand, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar districts. Following the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the system has appealed to the people of the low-lying areas to be alert and take necessary precautions.
