New Delhi: Along with happiness, big concerns have also come to the fore before the start of the T20 World Cup for defending champion India. Young fast bowler Harshit Rana was forced to leave the field due to knee problem during the practice match against South Africa at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday. Harshit’s injury could affect India’s bowling plans before the main tournament starting on February 7.

Harshit Rana raised concern

24-year-old Harshit Rana could bowl only one over of South Africa’s innings, in which he gave away 16 runs. During the over, he was seen leaving his run-up midway twice. A few moments later, he staggered out of the field holding his knee. Although there is no official update from BCCI yet on the seriousness of his injury, the way he left the field has worried the fans and selectors.

There is still no trace of Washington Sundar.

The trouble for Team India is not limited to Harshit alone. Star spin-allrounder Washington Sundar is yet to fully recover from the injury he suffered in the first ODI against New Zealand. He has not been able to be a part of the World Cup camp yet. There are less than 48 hours left for the tournament to start, so the fitness problem of two key players can become a headache for captain Suryakumar Yadav.

Relief from Tilak Verma’s strong comeback

Amidst the injury reports, Tilak Verma’s performance has definitely spread some smiles in the Indian camp. Tilak, who returned after recovering from injury, created havoc with the bat and played a brilliant inning of 45 runs in just 19 balls, which included 3 fours and 3 sixes. He also tried his hand at bowling and bowled an economical over. This all-round form of Tilak is strengthening India’s middle order.
