Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an important digital initiative for the agriculture sector during Budget 2026. He announced the launch of a multi-lingual AI platform named ‘Bharat Vistar’, whose objective is to deliver accurate and useful information related to agriculture to the farmers at the last mile.
Agri and ICAR data will be integrated
The Bharat Vistaar platform will link the government’s Agri Stack portal with certified farming practices of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). This will enable farmers to get sector-specific and reliable advice on a single platform.
AI will provide easy and accurate advice
According to the Finance Minister, this platform will analyze data related to crops, soil, weather and farming with the help of Artificial Intelligence. This will make scientific information more practical and understandable for farmers.
Better decisions in farming will be supported
By combining Agri Stack’s digital farmer records and ICAR’s research based recommendations, this tool will help farmers take the right decisions at the right time. The government believes that this will accelerate the adoption of better farming practices in different agro-climatic zones.
