What is Amazon’s new warning?
The company has started showing clear messages to some users during the return process, informing them that repeated misuse of returns, cancellations and refunds may result in the user’s account being blocked. Amazon used to keep an eye on the return activity of users earlier too, but the new alert is an indication that now the company is going to be more strict in such matters.
Why is Amazon taking this strict step?
Behind every return there is a huge expense for the company. Both the company and the seller incur losses due to the logistics costs of bringing back the goods, checking their quality, repacking and reselling. Amazon now wants to ensure that returns are made only out of compulsion and not become a habit. The special thing is that this warning starts appearing even before the reason for return is selected, which makes it clear that this message is being given on the basis of old orders.
What will happen if the account is blocked?
If the behavior continues after a warning, Amazon may limit returns, withhold refunds, or block the account entirely. If the account is blocked, access to services like orders, refunds, Amazon Pay balance, gift cards and Prime may also be lost. In many cases, it is not easy to get the account reopened.
