Ai Impact Summit 2026: Special Upi service started for guests, payment will be done without bank account or phone number – Upi One World Wallet At India Ai Impact Summit 2026 For Foreign Delegates How It Works

A large facility has been launched for the delegates from more than 40 countries who have come to participate in the AI Impact Summit 2026 being held from 16 to 20 February in New Delhi. National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched UPI One World Wallet service for visitors to India to attend the AI Impact Summit. Through this, foreign guests will be able to make UPI payments while staying in India. For this they will not need an Indian mobile number or bank account.

NPCI said in the statement that through this initiative, foreign travelers will be able to make secure and easy UPI payments while traveling to India. They will be able to use ‘Made in India’ technology while enjoying the culture, food and markets of India. Let us know what this wallet is and how it can be used.

What is UPI One World Wallet?

UPI One World Wallet is a unique prepaid digital wallet that allows foreign tourists and NRIs visiting India to make payments through UPI without having an Indian bank account or mobile number. It is operated by NPCI. The service was launched mainly at airports and major locations, during events like the G20.

It is linked to the user’s international mobile number and can be loaded with foreign currency or card. UPI One World Wallet is made available through authorized Prepaid Payment Instrument (PPI) issuers. It can be obtained from the NPCI Pavilion (Hall 14, Stall 14.16) at New Delhi International Airport and Bharat Mandapam.

Passengers can load cash into this wallet through different methods and make payments by scanning UPI QR codes anywhere in India. This eliminates the hassle of carrying cash or exchanging foreign currency.

You will have to download this app

Delegates need to download the CheqUPI app, which has been developed by Transcorp. They will then have to submit passport and visa details, get verified through a selfie and set a UPI PIN. Once approved, they will be issued a unique UPI ID. Users can add funds to the wallet through international debit or credit cards. In this, the maximum limit of one transaction has been kept at Rs 25,000, while the total monthly limit is up to Rs 50,000. Visitors can load the wallet maximum twice in a month.

According to NPCI, if any amount is left in the wallet then it can be transferred back to the original payment source as per foreign exchange rules.

Continuous increase in UPI transactions

The popularity of the digital payment system UPI is continuously increasing. In January 2026, there were 21.70 billion transactions through UPI, the total amount of which was ₹28.33 lakh crore (about $312 billion).

It is noteworthy that NPCI was established by Reserve Bank of India and Indian Banks’ Association. This institution operates retail payment and settlement systems in the country. Apart from UPI, its major products include RuPay, IMPS, NACH and AePS.

NPCI says this initiative is an important step towards connecting foreign representatives directly to India’s fast and secure digital payments system.
