Why is update necessary at the age of 5 years and 15 years?

What does UIDAI rule say?

According to UIDAI rules, biometric updating for children is done in two phases. The first update occurs at the age of 5 years. In this, the new photo, fingerprint and eye scanning of the child is added to the Aadhaar. This process is completely free. The second update is done at the age of 15 years. In this, the biometric is updated again, so that the Aadhaar remains completely valid for the future years.

Why is this important?

Often, parents do not pay attention to the update deadline after getting their children’s Aadhaar made. But this rule of UIDAI is directly related to the future of the child. Getting biometrics updated on time does not cause any legal or administrative problems in the future. The objective of UIDAI is to keep Aadhaar data accurate and secure, so that fake identification and misuse can be prevented.
