What happens when lentils are added to plants? The gardener revealed a big secret, said – plants will grow fast if planted properly.

People who are fond of gardening are often troubled by the problem of slow growth of plants and less flowers. NPK fertilizers available in the market are effective, but their excessive use can harm the fertility of the soil. In such a situation, lentils prove to be an excellent organic option.

Apart from the main nutrients nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, lentils also contain boron which strengthens the plant cells. The gardener has given two ways of adding lentils to the plants. This fertilizer is safe for both indoor and outdoor plants.

Method of preparing lentil solution

To make liquid fertilizer for lentils, take half a liter of water and add two tablespoons of lentils in it. It is very important to soak it so that the nutrients present within the pulses can dissolve in water. This solution acts like an energy drink for the plants, which is immediately absorbed by the roots.

Soaking time according to weather

The most important thing about this fertilizer is to take care of time. According to the gardener, if you are making compost in winter, then keep the pulses soaked overnight. At the same time, due to high temperature in summer season, soaking the pulses for only 4 hours is sufficient. After the stipulated time, filter the lentils and separate the water.

Correct proportion to dilute the solution

The filtered pulse water is very powerful, so do not pour it directly onto the plants. Rather, mix 5 times plain water in it before using. For example, if you have one glass of dal solution, add 5 glasses of plain water to it. This ratio ensures that the plants get the right amount of nutrients and the balance of the soil is not disturbed.

reuse of pulses

Do not throw away the remaining pulses after soaking. There are still a lot of nutrients left in it. Add fresh water to this dal again and leave it for 2 days. After two days, this water can be filtered and used again in the plants. This is a great example of zero waste gardening.

Another easy way: powder fertilizer

If you do not want to make liquid fertilizer, then grind dry lentils in a mixer and make a fine powder. The method of giving this powder is slightly different. First of all, dig the soil of the pot thoroughly. Now scatter one spoonful of powder all around and press it deep into the soil. Don’t forget to add water at the end so that the powder gets activated in the soil.

Method to increase plant growth

Method of use and precautions

Lentil fertilizer, whether liquid or powder, should be used only once a month. While adding liquid fertilizer, add only that much solution so that the upper soil gets thoroughly soaked. With regular use of this fertilizer, new leaves start growing in the plants and the size of flowers also increases.
