Because SSC has not yet started the facility of slot booking for GD.

Actually, Staff Selection Commission (SSC) had released the official notice regarding the exam date of MTS and GD on its official website ssc.gov.in on 2 January 2026. In which it was informed that SSC MTS exam will start from 4th February. Whereas the GD exam can potentially start from 23 February 2026. The date of commencement of slot booking facility of MTS was also mentioned in this notice but no such details were given regarding GD.

Will SSC GD exam be postponed?

MTS exam is being conducted by SSC from 4th February across the country. Which will be organized till 19th February. But there are reports of cancellation of MTS exam from many places including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Karnataka. In such a situation, where the exam has been cancelled, the exam will be conducted again. That means the exam will be held again. Which will take time. This has become a thing. Secondly, if the GD exam is to start from 23rd February then SSC would have taken slot booking for it by now.

Third, the exam city slips of the candidates start arriving about 10 days before the exam. But no such details have been released yet. In such a situation, it is being considered symbolically that potentially after conducting the SSC MTS exam completely, SSC can start the GD exam. Due to which the examination can start in March instead of February. Whatever we are telling you here, it is completely possible. Because till now SSC has not issued any official notice regarding postponing the GD exam.

Official confirmation will be given by SSC only when will the exam start? In such a situation, you should assume that the exam is from 23rd February only. Even if the schedule gets extended, you will get some more time to practice.
