CUET UG 2026 Latest Trends: In which subjects the competition for admission will be tough in major universities across the country including Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Jamia Millia Islamia, JNU, it can be estimated by looking at the subject-wise applications for CUET UG 2026. Applications can be made for CUET till February 4, but among the applications received so far, the top 5 subjects are English, Chemistry, General Aptitude Test, Physics, Mathematics.

More than 13 lakh registrations were done

In the new session, 233 universities are ready to give admission on the basis of CUET score and this information has been given to the National Testing Agency (NTA). So far, more than 13 lakh registrations have been done for the entrance test, out of which more than 11 lakh have submitted applications. NTA believes that after depositing the fees, the final registration can be up to 14 lakhs. In 2024, 1347820 students had registered, in 2025 this number increased to 1354699.

Maximum registrations took place in these subjects

In CUET- UG 2026, a student can apply to appear for a maximum of 5 subjects. Marks in one language are definitely considered for admission in graduation courses. If we look at other domain subjects including language, the maximum number of 10.26 lakh students have applied to take the English exam. After that there are 7.48 lakh applications for Chemistry exam. Many universities of the country look at the scores of subjects for admission. General Aptitude Test is also there and till now 7.40 lakh applications have been received for the General Test.

Similarly, there are 7.17 lakh applications for Physics, 4.59 lakh for Mathematics, 4.42 lakh for Biology, 2.12 lakh for Economics, 1.93 lakh for Business Studies, 1.78 lakh for Accounts, 1.35 lakh for Political Science. 1.06 lakh applications have been received in History, 81909 in Computer Science, 72681 in Geography, 58831 in Physical Education, 33304 in Agriculture, 32922 in Psychology, 29932 in Sociology, 14304 in Fine Arts, 9439 in Environment Science. What is the final number will be known only after the last date for depositing fees on 7th February. Registration can be done till 4th February and fees can be deposited till 7th February.

What is status in language?

After English, 1.25 lakh applications have been received for Hindi, 5325 for Tamil, 3102 for Bengali language exam, 2525 for Urdu, 1800 for Telugu, 1617 for Assamese, 1408 for Oriya, 1243 for Punjabi, 1058 for Malayalam, 788 for Kannada.

List of 233 universities of the country decided

Currently, 233 universities have agreed on the basis of CUET score, this number may increase further. The list of these universities includes 48 central universities, 30 state universities, 27 deemed universities, 113 private universities and 7 other government institutions.

Let us tell you that in 2025 there were a total of 241 universities, of which 126 were private universities. The number of private universities will increase further. 7 other government institutes are known for special courses. These seven institutes include Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, National Forensic Sciences University, Footwear Design and Development Institute, Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management, National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management- Kundli, Government College for Women- Parade Ground Jammu.
