How to become a teacher in Bihar without STET?
Now in Bihar, teachers will get government jobs on the basis of Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) instead of STET. Although the Education Department had earlier said that this examination will not be conducted at present, but the eligibility test can be conducted in future. Now recruitment will be done on the basis of CTET and there will be no separate TET.
Disadvantages of not having Bihar STET
Candidates of Bihar may face some loss due to the State Teacher Eligibility Test. There are many reasons for this-
- CTET syllabus is based on NCERT, whereas STET Bihar is based on SCERT or Board.
- CTET is considered a little tougher than STET. Because CTET is a national level exam and STET is of state level.
- There is no examination of regional languages in CTET. However, a decision has been taken to include Maithili.
- The share of external candidates may increase further.
- Experts believe that the state TET covers the local needs better.
- This can make a difference to state level jobs.
It also has some benefits-
- Only one exam will have to be given. There is no need to give separate STET.
- The burden of preparing separately for CTET and STET will end.
- CTET is conducted twice a year. Therefore more candidates will get a chance to qualify.
- The recruitment process can be speeded up through CTET.
- Candidates who qualify CTET can also apply to central government schools. This will increase career options.
- There is more focus on pedagogy and child development in CTET, which will increase the quality of teachers.
