Strike: Will work in banks come to a halt tomorrow? What advice did SBI and other banks give to the customers, know everything – Bank Strike News Bharat Bandh 12 February 2026 Sbi Open Or Closed Bank Holidays Feb 2026 Banking Services

Amid the proposed nationwide strike on 12 February 2026 and the call for Bharat Bandh, there is doubt in the minds of customers about whether bank branches will open or not. Major bank employee unions have decided to join this strike along with the Central Trade Unions (CTU). Clearing the confusion over the strike, the country’s largest public sector bank SBI and other major banks have told the stock exchanges that there may be a partial impact on banking services on Thursday.

Addressing customers’ concerns, State Bank of India (SBI), Bank of Baroda (BoB) and UCO Bank have issued official statements. SBI has said in the information given to the Bombay Stock Exchange that the bank has made necessary arrangements to ensure normal functioning of its branches and offices, but there is a possibility that the functioning may be affected due to the strike. Similarly, Bank of Baroda has also made it clear that they are taking steps for smooth operations, but if the strike becomes effective, the functioning of branches and offices may be disrupted. UCO Bank has also adopted almost the same stance and expressed fear of disruption in services.

What is the reason for the strike and who is involved in it?

The nationwide strike on Thursday has been called by major organizations like All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA) and Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI). These organizations are protesting against the proposed labor codes, which they consider to be anti-workers and stringent conditions for registration of trade unions. Moreover, bank unions have been demanding work-life balance and a five-day work week for a long time.

What should customers do during the strike?

Since banks have already expressed the possibility of the strike affecting their operations, customers have been advised to inquire about the situation before visiting the branch. However, digital services of banks like net banking, mobile banking and UPI will continue to function normally. There is also little hope that there will be a major impact on ATM services for cash withdrawal, but there may be delays in check clearance and counter services. Therefore, using digital facilities for essential tasks will prove to be a better option for customers.
