India-EU free trade agreement agreed upon
Let us tell you that after almost 18 years of ongoing talks between India and the European Union, the Free Trade Agreement was agreed upon. Both sides formally announced this historic agreement during the 16th India-EU Summit on 27 January. This trade deal is likely to be implemented from the year 2027. Once the agreement is implemented, many products imported from Europe may become cheaper in India. In particular, it is being said that the import duty on European luxury cars will be reduced from 110 percent to about 10 percent. This could lead to a big drop in the prices of cars like BMW and Mercedes. Apart from this, there are preparations for huge reduction in tax on liquor and wine coming from Europe. At present, there is a tariff of about 150 percent on these products, which can be reduced to the range of 20 to 30 percent.
