Increase in demand for Maruti Suzuki cars

First of all, let us tell you the sales figures of Maruti Suzuki India Limited that in January last, this Indo-Japanese company sold a total of 236,963 vehicles, which is the largest figure of cars sold in any month in the history till date. Of these, a total of 178,300 vehicles were sold in the domestic market, i.e. India, while 7,643 units were sent to OEMs and 51,020 vehicles were exported. The highest growth in exports was seen in last January. In January 2025, Maruti Suzuki had sold a total of 212,251 cars including exports, which means there has been a growth in MSIL sales annually.

Decline in sales of small cars

Now if we tell you the segment wise numbers of car sales of Maruti Suzuki company, a total of 14,268 units of Alto and S-Presso have been sold in the mini hatchback segment. Whereas, in the compact segment, a total of 72,738 units of hatchbacks and sedans like Baleno, Celerio, Dezire, Ignis, WagonR and Swift have been sold. There has been an annual decline in the sales of cars in this segment, as 82,241 units were sold in January 2025.

Sales of SUV-MPV and van increased

Last January 2026 saw a huge increase in the sales of Maruti Suzuki’s utility vehicles, i.e. SUVs and MPVs. Yes, last month a total of 75,609 units of Maruti’s SUVs and MPVs like Brezza, Ertiga, FrontX, Jimny, Victoris, Grand Vitara, XL6 and Invicto were sold. In January 2025, a total of only 65,093 units of these vehicles were sold, which means there has been an annual increase. Maruti Suzuki has sold a total of 11,914 units of its popular van Eeco, which is a year-on-year increase. Maruti Suzuki sold 3771 units of light commercial vehicles like Super Carry.

Bumper growth in exports

January 2026 was very important for Maruti Suzuki India Limited in terms of exports. This company exported 51,020 Made in India cars to different countries last month and this figure is an annual growth of almost 100 percent as compared to 27,100 units in January 2025. Maruti Suzuki delivered 7643 cars to OEMs last month. The overall figure stood at 2,36,963 units, which is an annual growth as compared to 2,12,251 units in January 2025.
