Tata EV sold 7852 electric cars
Last January, Tata Motors sold 7,852 electric cars in the Indian market and this figure is an annual growth of 48 percent. In January last year, Tata Motors sold 5,292 EVs. Tata’s popular electric cars include Nexon EV and Harrier EV as well as Punch EV, Tiago EV, Curve EV and Tigor EV. Tata Sierra EV will also be launched soon.
MG sold 4606 electric cars
JSW MG Motor India sold 4,606 electric cars in the month of January and this is with an annual growth of only 2 percent. In January 2025, this company had sold 4,527 electric cars. JSW MG Motor’s Windsor EV is the best selling electric car in the country.
Bumper increase in sales of Mahindra’s electric cars
In January 2026, Mahindra & Mahindra stood third in the list of top 10 EV companies and sold 3,589 electric cars. Mahindra’s EV sales saw an annual growth of 386 percent last month, as 739 units were sold in January 2025. Mahindra’s XEV 9e and BE6 along with its recently launched XEV 9S are in good demand.
Winfast beats the giants
In the month of January, Vinfast was the fourth largest electric car selling company and it defeated many popular companies including Hyundai, Kia. Vinfast sold a total of 432 electric cars in January 2026. Vinfast’s electric SUVs like VF6 and VF7 are being liked by the people and this year the company will launch more electric cars.
Hyundai’s electric car sales declined
Hyundai Motor India is not able to do anything special in the electric car segment and sold only 326 units in January last. There has been a decline of two percent in the sales of Hyundai’s electric cars, as 331 units were sold in January 2025.
Demand for BMW’s electric cars increased
Last January, BMW India sold a total of 312 electric cars in the Indian market. This figure is an annual increase of 61 percent, as 194 units were sold in January 2025.
Kia car sales increased by 500 percent
Kia India sold a total of 306 cars in the Indian market last January and this figure is an annual increase of 500 percent as compared to 51 units sold a year ago, i.e. in January 2025.
BYD car sales decline
Last January, BYD company’s electric car sales recorded an annual decline of 34 percent and a total of 224 units were sold. BYD sold 338 electric cars in January 2025.
How was January 2026 for Maruti Suzuki?
Sales of Maruti Suzuki’s first electric SUV e-Vitara have not started, but 210 units of Made in India Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara were sold in foreign countries in January 2026.
Demand for Mercedes Benz electric cars increased
Mercedes-Benz is lagging behind in the luxury electric car segment and in January 2026, this German company sold only 69 electric cars. Mercedes-Benz’s EV sales have seen an annual decline of 34 percent last month, as 104 units were sold in January last year.
