There is no possibility of changing the decision of not playing the match
In the report of Pakistani news website Telecom Asia Sports, quoting PCB sources, it has been indicated that the decision to boycott the match will not be changed. According to the source, the Pakistan government has announced not to play in the match. Unless the government changes its decision, we cannot play in the match. Earlier, Pakistan’s T20 captain Salman Aga had also given the same indication in the official press conference. Agha had also said that Pakistan also has to play three more matches in the group and we will try to qualify for the Super-8 by winning them.
PCB will not give written information to ICC
The report also said that PCB will not send any written information to ICC regarding not playing in the match. PCB source said, ‘This is the government’s decision and it has been issued on the official platform. In such a situation, there is no need to write to ICC. Did India ever tell the ICC on any occasion (in the Champions Trophy) that it would not travel to Pakistan? When did the ICC ask India to show the letter from the (Indian) government and neither did it (India) ever show it. Therefore, we do not need to give anything in writing.
Sharif has announced after taking legal advice
ICC and the official broadcaster of the T20 World Cup are likely to suffer a revenue loss of around $250 million due to the non-match of the match between Pakistan and India. In such a situation, it is believed that ICC and broadcasters can take action against Pakistan. The report claims that the Pakistan government has first taken legal advice to deal with any such situation. Only after this the boycott of the match has been announced. Before the announcement, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also met former PCB Chief Najam Sethi in Lahore on Sunday. The source said, ‘Sethi had also advised the PM to take strict action against India, because during Sethi’s tenure as PCB chairman, India had withdrawn from the agreement related to bilateral series between the two countries in the year 2016.’
Lawyer is being sent to Colombo with Pakistan team
Pakistan team reached Colombo, Sri Lanka on Monday evening to participate in the T20 World Cup. The source also said that if there is an ICC meeting on the boycott issue, a lawyer is being sent to accompany the team officials. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has given permission for this so that the ICC can respond on legal points.
