Board Exam Tips: 10th English paper will be easy, these 8 things from experts will be useful

Maharastra Board 10th Exam 2026 Tips: The season of board examinations has started. CBSE board exams began on February 17, while Maharashtra State Board Class 10 exams began on February 20. Hindi paper is easy for Hindi medium students, but on hearing the name of English, the confidence wavers a bit. Especially when the exam is coming up on 27th February. Here are some important tips to strengthen the English subject, which can help a lot in the examination.

Understanding the pattern of paper is the beginning of success.

According to Gujna Devi High School teacher Ashwini Joshi, the 10th English exam is of total 100 marks. Of these, 80 marks are for written examination and 20 marks are for internal assessment. The question paper is prepared in a fixed format. Therefore, if students understand the pattern in advance and pay attention to time management, then half of the worry will automatically go away.

Neat sections and clear preparation

Sunita Yadav, English teacher of Tulsi Hindi Secondary School, says that the English question paper is divided into different sections, so that it is clear to the students as to how many marks will be given from which section and how to distribute the time. In the paper, questions related to language study, textual passage, poetry, non-textual passage, writing skills and skill development are asked.

Full marks possible in language study

The first question from the Language Study section carries 10 marks. Questions like filling in the blanks, arranging words, correct use of punctuation marks, making words from letters are asked. This is the practice based part. Students who practice regularly can easily get full marks here.

The habit of reading will give you an edge

The second question comes from the textual passage section for 20 marks. 2 text passages are given, based on which questions have to be solved. The right way is to first read the entire passage carefully and then find the answer. Answer written with understanding always gives better marks.

English paper is not difficult. If students understand the question paper pattern and pay attention to time management and regular practice, then good marks can be obtained. Reading habits, correct format and clear presentation can help in scoring good marks.

Order and clarity are necessary in poetry

10 marks are decided from the poetry part. One question is based directly on the poem, while the other involves writing an appreciation of the poem. Write down points like title, poet’s name, rhyme scheme, theme and central idea in an organized manner. The clearer the presentation, the better marks you will get.

Testing Comprehension in Non-Textual Passages

This part contains questions of 15 marks. Answer has to be given on the basis of chart, table or informational text. Solving previous years’ question papers boosts confidence.

There is no need to panic in 10th board exam. Prepare for the exam with confidence. Adopt English as a language, not a subject. Regular writing practice, solving model papers and writing answers after understanding the text will yield good marks.

Format matters in writing skills

This section of 20 marks is considered scoring. It includes formal and informal letters, dialogue writing, speeches, news report headlines and short paragraph writing. Correct format, balanced word limit and better presentation are the keys to success.

Questions are easy for skill development

The last question is of 5 marks, in which questions related to translation or semantics come. This part is relatively simple and gives extra confidence to the students. Students do not face any problem in the examination if they prepare properly for it.
