First century of T20 World Cup against Australia
Pathum Nissanka has become the first batsman to score a century against Australia in the T20 World Cup. Earlier, the record for the biggest innings was in the name of Pakistan’s Umar Akmal. He played an inning of 94 runs in Mirpur in 2014.
Second World Cup century for Sri Lanka
Pathum Nissanka is only the second Sri Lankan batsman to score a century in T20 World Cup history. In 2010, Mahela Jayawardene had played only an inning of 100 runs against Zimbabwe.
Fastest century on home ground
Pathum Nissanka completed his century in 52 balls. This is the fastest century by any Sri Lankan batsman on home ground. Tillakaratne Dilshan had scored a century on 55 balls against Australia in 2011.
Nissanka completes 2500 T20 International runs
Before this match, Pathum Nissanka had 2474 runs in T20 International cricket. With 26 runs, he completed his 2500 runs. He is the second Sri Lankan batsman after Kusal Mendis to score 2500 runs in this format.
Most centuries for Sri Lanka
This is Pathum Nissanka’s second century in T20 International cricket. He has become the batsman who has scored the most centuries for Sri Lanka. He scored 107 runs against India in last year’s Asia Cup. Apart from them, only Dilshan, Jayawardene and Kusal Perera have centuries in their names.
