Andhra Pradesh government presented a budget of over Rs 3.32 lakh crore for the year 2026-27. In this, emphasis has been laid on creating a balance between welfare schemes and development works. Presenting the budget in the state assembly, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav said that the estimated revenue expenditure has been kept at Rs 2.56 lakh crore and capital expenditure at around Rs 54,000 crore.

Additionally, the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development department, headed by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, has been allocated about Rs 23,000 crore, reflecting the government’s focus on strengthening rural infrastructure and local development.
Two years is not enough time to build the state
In the budget speech, Keshav said that two years is not enough time to rebuild the state, as the state has faced many serious challenges since its formation. He termed the 2014 bifurcation as illogical, saying it deprived the state of a strong capital, a major engine of growth and a revenue-generating service sector. Describing the 2019-24 rule as a period of policy stagnation and financial negligence, he said that this further affected the economic condition of the state.
The Finance Minister described the budget as not just a document of statistics but a roadmap to fulfill the aspirations of five crore people, in which social welfare, education, health and rural development have been given priority.
