National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) Chairman Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar has retired. On the occasion of his retirement, a report was released by NCLT. In this report, the work done and notable changes during the tenure of NCLT President Justice Ramalingam have been discussed in detail. Retired NCLT chief Justice Ramalingam thanked the National Company Law Tribunal for the function organized on the occasion of his retirement, saying that while holding the post of Chairman in this institution, he got the opportunity to perform many important tasks. They are being relieved from this constitutional responsibility with satisfaction.

Report released on four years of service

The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), in its report released on the work done during the four-year tenure of Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar, has told how important changes were made in the institution in the last 48 months. At the farewell function organized by the Tribunal Bar Association, Justice Sudhakar presented the ‘report card’ of his tenure, which tells about the historic change in the speed of disposal of cases under the Insolvency Act i.e. IBC.


Tremendous improvement in efficiency of NCLT

According to the report released by Justice Sudhakar, the efficiency of NCLT has improved tremendously in the last four years. The disposal percentage of IBC cases has increased to 59.02% in the financial year 2024-25, which was just 26.94% in 2021-22. A total of 47,898 IBC cases have been disposed of till December 31, 2025, which is 87.3% of the total cases filed.


Resolution of total cases worth Rs 19.75 lakh crore

The report reveals that a large amount of stranded capital has been freed through the insolvency process. A total of cases worth Rs 19.75 lakh crore have been resolved till December 31, 2025. The number of resolution plans approved has increased by 312% between March 2021 and December 2025. So far, a total of 1,501 resolution plans have been approved, through which an amount of Rs 4.52 lakh crore has been approved.
