What is EO-2 satellite?
EO-2 is an electro-optical satellite, which will be used in Earth observation. It has been designed to strengthen imaging capabilities. It will work to send high-resolution pictures to the Pakistani Space Agency on Earth. Earlier, Pakistan had launched its first EO-1 satellite from China’s Jiuquan Launch Center. The induction of EO-2 adds to Pakistan’s satellite fleet, which is expected to improve data coverage and accuracy.

Can India’s worries increase?
It is not hidden from anyone that Pakistan thinks more about India’s loss than its progress. Some analysts believe that Pakistan can use EO-2 to spy on India. Real-time imaging may make it possible to monitor border areas or military activities.
However, experts say that India does not need to be too worried about this. Pakistan’s space program is still limited and its capabilities are far behind that of India’s space organization ISRO.

Where does SUPARCO stand in front of ISRO?
India already has advanced Earth observation satellites, such as the Cartosat series, which provide high resolution imaging and continuous coverage up to 25 to 50 cm. In this sense, EO-2 is not considered a major threat to India’s security.
