Samvad Sutra, Belipar, (Gorakhpur). The Bolero returning from the wedding procession went out of control near Bhitha Toll Plaza on Tuesday night and collided with the divider and overturned. Two youths died in the accident, while four were seriously injured. There was chaos at the spot after the incident. With the help of toll workers and local people, the injured were taken out and sent to the hospital.
Ashutosh Pandey, Suraj Pandey, Sarvan Chauhan, Alok Sharma, Deepak Nishad, Shivam Gupta and Suraj Sharma of Charpan Suadda and Nagwan Tola had gone to Gola Bazar in Bolero (UP 53 CZ 5497) to attend the wedding of the son of Subhash Maurya, resident of Charpan Khurd.
At around 11 pm, when everyone was returning to the village, the driver lost control of the vehicle near Bhitha Toll Plaza, about two kilometers before the village. The speeding Bolero hit the divider and overturned. After the accident, toll plaza workers and nearby villagers reached the spot. The injured were taken out and sent to the hospital by ambulance where the driver Ashutosh Pandey died on Wednesday morning.
Seriously injured Alok Sharma was referred to Medical College Gorakhpur, where he also died. Since Suraj Sharma’s condition is critical, he has been sent to Lucknow. Other injured are undergoing treatment. Pooja Pandey, wife of deceased Ashutosh Pandey, is in bad condition and crying.
His two-year-old son Raghavendra and five-year-old daughter Tanishk are still unaware of the incident. SP South Dinesh Kumar Puri said that the damaged vehicle has been taken into custody. In the initial investigation, high speed and loss of control by the driver are being considered as the reasons for the accident.
The youth sitting inside got trapped when the vehicle overturned. Some youths were groaning in seriously injured condition. Toll plaza personnel immediately removed the barricade, stopped the traffic and started relief work along with the villagers. The front part of the Bolero was completely damaged. The doors were jammed.
Local people somehow broke the door and took out the injured. There was a long traffic jam at the spot for some time. Heavy vehicles passing on the highway were stopped. As soon as the information was received, Belipar police and ambulance reached the spot.
The injured were immediately sent to the district hospital. The police removed the damaged vehicle from the road and normalized the traffic. The blood stains and scattered items at the spot were telling the horror of the accident.
