Will schools remain closed on 12th February?

Unions say that preparations for the bandh are solid. Strike notices have been distributed in many different sectors and industry sectors. However, no announcement has been made at the national level to close schools, colleges or any other sector. But considering the kind of preparations being made for the strike across the country and the fear of traffic jam at some places, schools may be closed in many states keeping in mind the safety of children. However, these decisions will be taken at the district level and at the school level. Whichever districts will close schools, or which schools will announce holidays or online classes at their own level, they will release the information at the latest by 10-11 pm on Wednesday, 11th February or by 7 am in the morning on 12th February. Bharat Bandh Reason: Why Bharat Bandh on 12th February?

The organizations that have announced the bandh are actually protesting against the four changed labor codes. These are part of the 29 labor codes that were amended last year. These organizations say that the new codes will weaken workers’ rights, reduce job security and make it easier for companies and employers to hire and then fire people. Apart from this, these organizations have also expressed concern over privatization of institutions, low salaries and social security.

The organizations demand that these 4 Labor Codes and Rules brought by the Government of India should be withdrawn in 2025. Draft SEED Bill, Electricity Amendment Bill, Sustainable Harnessing Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India (SHANTI) Act should be withdrawn. In place of MNREGA, VB Ji Ram Ji (Developed India Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission, Rural Act 2025) should be removed and MGNREGA should be brought back.
