Even before the implementation of the new Labor Code in the country, there is an atmosphere of hope among workers and employers. Most workers are confident that workplace conditions will improve after the implementation of the new labor laws. Working hours will be fixed, there will be transparency in salary payments and the scope of social security will increase. It has been claimed in a big survey that positive thinking is being formed at the grassroots level regarding labor reforms.
Noida-based VV Giri National Labor Institute conducted this survey among workers and employers. According to the survey, about 60 percent of the workers believe that the new labor code will improve working conditions. 63 percent of workers expect the regulation of working hours to improve. This institute works under the Ministry of Labor and Employment. 5,720 workers and 715 employers were interviewed in the survey.
Salary transparency and expectation of timely payment
In the survey, 64 percent workers said that the new system will increase transparency in salary payment. 54 percent workers are confident that they will get their salaries on time. There have also been positive signals regarding income security. 68 percent workers have expected easy access to facilities through e-Shram and Welfare Board. A large number of workers believe that the digital system will make the process of complaint and registration easier.
Benefits to gig, migrant and contract workers
About 63 percent of the workers believe that the new labor laws will make it easier for contract, migrant and gig workers to avail the benefits of social security schemes. Till now these sections were not able to get full benefit of the schemes. Separate provisions have been added for these in the new Labor Code. This has increased the hope of workers in the unorganized sector getting security cover.

Employers also said reforms are necessary
76 percent of the employers surveyed said that the new labor laws will bring flexibility in the workforce, which is essential for business. 64 percent of employers believe that the fixed-term employment model will be suitable for their business. 73 percent of employers said that in the long run, compliance with the rules will be easier and legal complications will be reduced. This is also expected to provide relief to the industry.
Emphasis on safety of women employees
About 66 percent of the workers believed that the new rules would provide better protection to women employees. Mandatory provisions related to safety and transportation will make workplaces safer. 60 percent workers said that the rules related to leave will also be better than before. This will help in balancing work and personal life. It is also said that this will strengthen the goal of increasing women participation.
Preparation to implement from April 1st
The Central Government has already notified all four labor laws. Suggestions have also been sought on the draft rules. The government plans to implement them completely from April 1, 2026. Union Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that these reforms aim to promote social security, dignified work and inclusive growth for all.
